One of the original hobby microcontroller boards. Originally from Italy, and open sourced so you can get loads of boards which are based on Arduino. Be careful about getting them too cheap as you will most likely not be able to return them.
Raspberry Pi
Arguably, the most famous hobby microcomputer, and bred in Cambridge UK. The Raspberry Pi can run both Linux and Windows, and can be powered by NodeJS, Python and C# (and more). There are several variants, with the Pi 2 model B being the current latest.

A term that is bandied about by the larger tech companies to denote devices which are connected to the web.
